Start Smart Outreach
Pick the Agent, read who will be contacted and why, check the sequence and credits, then send the first five or start the whole plan.

This tutorial takes a Target with contacts and a published Agent and turns them into a running outreach plan. You will check who is reachable, what the sequence looks like, what it can cost, and send the first few messages before the rest.
Before you start
- A Target with contacts, each with at least one email, phone or LinkedIn URL. If the Target has none, the dialog offers Add enrichment to find contacts.
- A published outbound Agent with at least one enabled channel whose account is connected. See Create an Agent and Connect.
Open Smart Outreach
-
Open the Target and click Smart Outreach in the toolbar.
-
Under Select Agent, pick the Agent. Each row shows its version and goal type, and the plan status if it already has one here. Owner of this run is the Agent you picked: one plan per Agent per Target.
You do not choose channels here. The steps come from the channels the Agent has enabled and connected.
Read the Audience panel
Audience counts every contact in the Target and splits them:
| Line | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 12 will be contacted | New contacts the next Start or Resume would admit |
| 3 already in this plan | Contacts that already have a case here |
| 2 held back by company cap | Over the per-company contact limit set in the Agent, or beyond the plan's 50-contact limit |
| 1 with another Agent | Contacted by an open plan of a different Agent |
| 4 unreachable | No usable address: missing on every channel the Agent can use, opted out, or the channel cannot send |
The numbers above are examples; each line shows your own count.
Of the 12: lists how many of those contacts can be reached on each channel; a contact can count on several. Open a group to see each contact and the reason next to it.
If a channel is enabled but cannot send, the dialog says why and links to Fix in the Agent rule.
Check the sequence
The Sequence panel is read-only and describes what the Agent's rule produces:
- The channel order, for example Email → LinkedIn → WhatsApp.
- A step every 2 days, preferring a new channel · stops on any reply.
- Closed after 7 days with no reply, and whether the Agent adds one email reminder at the end.
- Up to 24 sends ≈ 2.4 credits, next to (you have 300; skipped steps are not charged).
The numbers are examples; the panel shows the figures for your Agent and contacts.
A contact without an address on one channel simply skips that step, so the real cost is usually lower than the upper bound.
Edit any of it in the Agent's Outreach section; the dialog's link Edit rule ↗ takes you there.
The same dialog holds the switch Open with the contact's recent LinkedIn post. It is on by default; see Personalized openings: outreach hooks.
Send the first five
Before a plan exists, the dialog also offers Send First 5. It admits five contacts and sends their first step now, without waiting for the sending window. Everything else still applies: suppression, per-day limits and credits.
Use it to check that the real messages look right before the rest of the list goes out. Once the plan is running, the button is gone; Start Plan then adds the remaining contacts.
Start the plan
- When everything reads correctly, click Start Plan.
- The status line under the dialog reports what happened, for example Plan started · 12 contacts in the plan · 12 contacts added · 12 tasks waiting.
- The plan band shows the plan status with counts for waiting, in sequence, replied, no response, unreachable, opted out and failed. It also shows company engaged and canceled when there are any, plus Next step.
While a plan runs, the same button becomes Pause. Start Plan appears beside it to add contacts that arrived later. When the last open contact closes, the plan becomes Completed.
Sending window and daily limits
The window and rates are part of the Agent, not the plan; change them in the Agent's Sending Rules:
- Days and Active window, with Work hours setting the time zone. The default is Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00, UTC.
- Per day and Per hour for each channel, plus, for WhatsApp and LinkedIn, Min interval (sec), Max interval (sec) and Random delay (sec).
A step outside the window or over a limit is not lost. It waits and is sent when the window opens or a slot frees up. Send First 5 is the one exception and sends immediately.
Pause, resume and end
- Pause stops new steps; waiting sends stay queued and nothing is lost.
- Resume continues, and switches the plan to the Agent's current version.
- End plan cancels every unfinished contact. Sent messages are not recalled, and credits held for unsent steps are returned.
Check the result
Open the Agent's Conversation Inbox. First messages from the plan appear there, and replies arrive in the same threads. The plan band in Smart Outreach stays the place to watch the per-contact counts.
