Create an Agent
Create an AI employee from a template or from scratch, and let the setup wizard draft its profile, goal and example message from your website and LinkedIn.
Last updated 2026-10-23
This tutorial takes you from an empty My AI Team page to a saved draft Agent ready to test. You will pick the Agent's kind, let the setup wizard draft it from your website, and review the result.
What you will end up with
A draft Agent with its profile and goal filled in, plus one example email for an outbound Agent. Nothing is sent to a customer until you publish the Agent and start outreach yourself.
Before you start
- Your company website address, and ideally your own LinkedIn profile address.
- At least one connected channel if you want to publish right away; open Connect in the sidebar. You can save and test a draft without one.
Create the Agent
-
Open Agents in the sidebar, then click Create Agent.
-
Choose what the AI employee is responsible for. For this tutorial, pick Proactively develop customers.
-
In the setup dialog, enter Company Website. Personal LinkedIn is optional.
You can skip the whole step, but the wizard needs at least one of the two fields to work from.
-
Click Start. The dialog shows a live checklist of what it is doing, such as Looking up the company and Drafting your pitch.
-
When it finishes, the editor of the new draft opens. Check Agent Profile:
- Agent Name is the name of the Agent in your team.
- AI Employee Name and AI Employee Role are the person customers will see, for example Lily Chen, Export Sales Manager.
- Company Name, Company Website, Company Bio and Personal Bio describe you.
-
Open Goal & Behavior. The wizard picked a Goal type, such as Pitch a Product, and wrote More details. Edit both to match what you actually want from a first message.
-
Open Example Messages. The wizard wrote one email example if your email channel is enabled. Replace it with a real message you would send; see Example messages and templates.
-
Click Save Draft, then Test it out to see the first message it writes for a sample customer.
If you skip the wizard
Both dialogs offer Skip to manual setup, and the template dialog offers Skip, use the template as is. Skipping opens the editor with either a blank Agent or the template as it is.
Create from a template
The Create from Template section on My AI Team offers four ready-to-use templates:
| Template | Channels it enables |
|---|---|
| All-Channel Sales Agent | Email, LinkedIn and WhatsApp |
| LinkedIn Agent | |
| WhatsApp Agent | |
| Email Agent | Email only |
Click Use template. The same setup dialog opens, and the wizard's suggestions are placed on top of the template instead of on a blank Agent. Skipping creates a plain copy of the template.
Using a template copies its content into your new Agent. Editing your Agent later never changes the template.
What the wizard writes, and what it leaves to you
- Outbound Agents: the profile, the goal type and its description, and one example email. It does not choose your channels, sending window, sequence, attachments, language or time zone.
- Inbound Agents: the profile, the persona, the information collection items, and the handoff and stop rules. It never fills the knowledge base, the welcome material or the channels.
- Reading your LinkedIn profile needs a connected LinkedIn account. Without one, that step is marked skipped; the run continues only if it could read your website.
- A website that cannot be read fails the run. Use Try again with a corrected address, or skip to manual setup.
- The wizard runs at most 10 times per hour per workspace.
Check the result
Open My AI Team. The new Agent appears under My Agents with a Draft badge and the channels you enabled. Its card shows Needs channel only once it is published or paused without a connected account; a draft never shows it.
