Quickstart: from a description to your first message

Create a Target, review its Criteria, enrich it, find contacts, train an Agent, connect a channel and start Smart Outreach.

This tutorial takes you from an empty account to the first message a trained Agent sends on a Target. You create a Target, review the Criteria, enrich it, find contacts, create an Agent, preview its message, connect a channel and start Smart Outreach.

The search and the enrichment run while you work on the Agent, so you do not have to wait on one screen.

What you need

  • An account. Sign-in is a six-digit code sent to your email; see Account and sign-in.
  • A paid plan with a connected account before anything can be sent. Email needs Starter or above; LinkedIn and WhatsApp need Scale or above. Free plans can still build Targets, enrich them and preview messages.
  • Your company details: name, website, a short description and the person name the Agent writes under.

Create a Target

A Target is one list of companies or people that meet your Criteria.

  1. In the sidebar, open Targets.
  2. Keep Companies selected, or switch to People if you want a list of individuals.
  3. In the description box, describe the customers you want in plain language. For example: "outdoor furniture importers in Germany with 20+ employees".
  4. Open Result count and choose how many accepted results this list should reach. Options above your plan are locked and name the plan they need.
  5. Leave Output language at your language unless the Criteria and enriched values should be written in another one.
  6. Click Start Finding Targets.

RenewSell creates a draft Target and opens its workspace. Nothing has been searched yet.

Review the Criteria and start finding

The workspace drafts the Criteria from your description. A Criterion is a hard requirement: a company joins the list only when every Criterion is met.

  1. Read the Criteria card on the right. If a row is wrong, open the editor, fix it, and click Save.
  2. Use Add Criteria to add a requirement, or Exclude to turn a row into a negative requirement.
  3. Click Start Finding.

A quote appears: current results, new results to find, estimated credits and the average credits per accepted result. It is estimated from how this list's earlier searches actually settled. Confirm to start.

Searching and evaluating candidates are free. Only a result that meets every Criterion is charged, once it is accepted.

Watch the results

Results appear as they finish. The header shows how many matches the list holds and how many candidates were analyzed; the Result column shows one pill per row:

PillMeaning
Evaluating 1/2Criteria are still being checked; the numbers are satisfied and total
High fitEvery Criterion is satisfied and each one cites a source
Clear fitEvery Criterion is satisfied; one or more Criteria lack a cited source
Partial fit 1/2At least one Criterion failed and at least one is satisfied; the row stays visible but is not a match
Evaluation failedA Criterion check failed to finish; the search can retry it
Not a matchNo Criterion is satisfied; hidden until you turn on Show non-matching
Not evaluatedThe search stopped before this row was judged
No criteriaThe Target has none yet

Use Show non-matching to see the hidden rows. Click a row to open the details panel with the Criterion-by-Criterion evaluation and its sources.

The search can stop on its own before reaching the target count. The banner says why, for example that the Criteria may be too strict or that the sources available are exhausted. Continue finding resumes it; Edit criteria relaxes a requirement first.

Add an enrichment column

Enrichment adds one researched column to the list, or finds contacts for every company.

  1. In the toolbar, click Add Enrichment.
  2. Pick a preset under RECOMMENDED ENRICHMENTS. For people, choose Key contacts or Official Website Contacts. For a field, choose Company Size (Employees), Outreach hook or Custom Research.
  3. For a field, check Column Name, Data Type and Instruction for AI. Research depth trades speed for reach; all depths cost the same per successful field.
  4. Read Est. cost and click Start Enrichment.

Cells fill in the background. Every filled cell opens its source; a cell with no evidence stays empty and is not charged. Use the column menu (Update Missing, Update All, Edit Column, Delete Column) to work on a column later.

Find contacts

Contacts live in their own columns: Key contacts and Official Website Contacts.

  1. Click Add Enrichment, choose Key contacts.
  2. Check the Role Scope keywords, for example purchasing or owner. Add a keyword and press Enter to change the scope.
  3. Click Start Enrichment.

Discovery is billed per unique company domain, not per person. Results arrive as contact records; open the Key contacts cell to view, edit or add a person, or use Verify email to check an address. Verification degrades to Unverified after 30 days.

Create an Agent

An Agent is the teammate that writes and replies. Start from a template or build one.

  1. In the sidebar, open Agents, then Train Agent. The page is My AI Team.
  2. Click Create Agent and choose Proactively develop customers.
  3. Optionally enter your Company Website and Personal LinkedIn, then click Start to draft the profile, goal and an example message. Skip to manual setup starts from a blank Agent.
  4. In the editor, fill Agent Name, AI Employee Name, AI Employee Role and Company Name under Agent Profile.
  5. In Goal & Behavior, pick a Goal type and add More details.
  6. In Example Messages, paste one or two messages that usually get replies. Turn on Strictly follow the template when generating outreach messages if first messages must follow your text exactly.
  7. In Sending Rules, enable the channels the Agent may use and set the Active window and rate limits.
  8. In Outreach, set Days between steps, Close after (days), Contacts per company and the email follow-up.
  9. Click Save Draft.

Preview the message

  1. In the preview column, pick a sample lead or one of your lists, and the channel.
  2. Click Test it out.
  3. Read the draft. Use Switch Lead to try another contact.

A preview never sends anything and uses no credits. It is limited to 30 tests per hour. Test it out saves unsaved edits as a draft first. Previews do not read the contact's LinkedIn posts, so the opening can differ from the message that is actually sent.

Connect a channel and publish

Messages go out from your own accounts, so connect one before publishing.

  1. Open Connect in the sidebar.
  2. On the channel card, click Connect, finish the authorization in the new tab, then come back. For a hosted mailbox, click I've finished.
  3. The card shows Connected with today's quota.
  4. Return to the Agent, bind the account under Sending Rules, and click Publish.

Connecting a channel costs a connection fee per account, and each connected account pays maintenance every month; disconnect to stop it. Credentials never reach your browser. See the pricing page for amounts.

Publish needs at least one connected and bound account. A draft Agent cannot start a plan.

Start Smart Outreach

  1. Open the Target and click Smart Outreach.
  2. Under Select Agent, choose the Agent you just published.
  3. Check Audience: how many contacts will be contacted, and why the rest will not. The rest are unreachable, held by the company cap, or already with another Agent.
  4. Check Sequence, and leave Open with the contact's recent LinkedIn post on if you want personal openings.
  5. Click Start Plan, or Send First 5 to send the first step to five contacts now.

Send First 5 skips only the sending window; suppression, quotas and credits still apply. Any reply stops that contact's sequence. Pause leaves pending sends waiting; End plan cancels what has not gone out and returns the credits held for it.

Check the result

  • The Target's contact columns hold the people the plan contacts.
  • Smart Outreach shows the plan counters and the next step time.
  • The Agent's Conversation Inbox collects replies. Auto-reply can answer from the Knowledge Base; anything uncertain is handed to you.
  • Opportunities lists conversations with a buying signal.
