Email compliance

The unsubscribe link in every email, what happens after someone unsubscribes or complains, and which addresses RenewSell stops writing to.

Last updated 2026-10-23

Every email RenewSell sends carries an unsubscribe link. When a customer uses it, the address stops receiving email immediately, and RenewSell also stops the rest of the outreach to that contact where it can.

This page describes what the product does, not what the law in your market requires. It is not legal advice.

  • Every outgoing email gets a line at the bottom with an unsubscribe link, for example Unsubscribe: https://…/api/unsubscribe?token=….
  • The link is specific to the recipient's address and needs no sign-in. Opening it applies the unsubscribe straight away and shows a short confirmation page: the address will not receive further outreach email, and the change cannot be undone from that page.

Unsubscribe or complaint: the address is suppressed on that channel, and later sends are skipped

After an unsubscribe

  1. The address is added to the account's suppression list for email, so later sends to it are skipped automatically. A skipped send does not go out.
  2. RenewSell also suppresses the contact's other addresses (LinkedIn, WhatsApp) and ends the outreach sequence that is still running for that contact, where it can.
  3. Nothing else about the conversation changes: it stays in the inbox with its history.

When auto-reply handles a customer reply in which they ask not to be contacted again, the Agent treats it the same way: it stops the conversation and the addresses are suppressed.

Complaints

When a customer complains, mark the conversation in the inbox: open the thread and use the complaint button, then confirm Mark as complaint. The dialog explains the effect: the contact's address on this channel is suppressed, and future sends to it are skipped automatically. RenewSell also suppresses the contact's other addresses and ends a running sequence for that contact.

Marking a complaint is idempotent: doing it twice adds nothing.

Bounces

If a mailbox reports that an address does not exist, RenewSell suppresses that address automatically and does not write to it again. A bounce is not treated as a customer reply, so it does not start an auto-reply.

What the page does not cover

  • The email footer contains the unsubscribe link; it does not contain your company's legal name or postal address. If your market requires them, add them in your own wording outside RenewSell.
  • RenewSell does not decide whether a given recipient may be contacted; that depends on your relationship with them and on local rules.

FAQ

Does unsubscribing stop LinkedIn and WhatsApp too? It stops the contact's other addresses where RenewSell can resolve them, and ends the running sequence. The unsubscribe link itself exists only in email.

Can I undo an unsubscribe? Not from the unsubscribe page. Contact the customer and only resume if they ask you to.

Are unsubscribed addresses counted in the opportunity board? No. An unsubscribe reply does not create an opportunity; the conversation stays in the inbox with its history.

Will I still see the conversation? Yes. Suppression only stops outgoing messages; past messages and the thread remain in the inbox.
